Devotional from Tony Evans "God Created Eve, Adam Did Not"

I received this devotional via email today from Dr./Pastor Tony Evans (The Urban Alternative Ministry) and I thought that it was a good reminder for us ladies.  God calls us to Himself, to be His, and He has also called us to be helpmates to our husbands.  I need reminders often about placing God above anyone and anything else in this life.

What about you ladies?  Anyone else get caught up in the crazy cycle of life sometimes and lose focus?  "Forget" about your high calling?

God Created Eve, Adam Did Not

God’s creation of woman was not as a result of a request by Adam. It wasn’t Adam who said to God that he needed someone in his life. Rather, God said, “’It is not good for the man to be alone.’” (Genesis 2:18) God saw the lack in the man on his own to fulfill the dominion covenant He had given to him so He created a helper, what is known in the original Hebrew language as an "ezer kenegdo" to complete the task. Yet before God ever took Eve to Adam, Eve was with God Himself. Her highest purpose came in being the "ezer kenegdo" to God Himself to fulfill the completion of His creation.
Eve’s first calling was to God Himself – to fulfill His purpose for her life, which in her case was being brought to Adam to help him. Her role as helpmate was not just a role of companionship, rather it included a significant role as co-collaborator in carrying out the dominion mandate.
Yet many women today – either due to a lack of kingdom men to even marry, or due to divorce, do not have an “Adam” to complete. If this is you, take courage in your calling because God Himself is your purpose. You have been made for Him. As He says in Isaiah,
“’For your husband is your Maker, whose name is the Lord of hosts; and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel, Who is called the God of all the earth. For the Lord has called you, like a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit, even like a wife of one’s youth when she is rejected.’ says your God.” (Isaiah 54:5,6)
Whether you are married or single, as a Kingdom Woman – you have a high calling and a kingdom purpose to fulfill.

For His Kingdom,

Tony Evans
